What Are Buildings Made Of?

   Question #2

ANSWER: Iron

Nope.

Iron is one of the most useful metals, and they actually used to mine it in southeastern Missouri - but not St. Louis. In the 1800s architects tried to use iron to resist fire and to make taller buildings. One of the most common places you see iron is in the form of anchors on the sides of buildings. These anchors have a bolt in the middle which secures an iron rod through the middle of the building.
