Description:    Anheuser was the father-in-law of Adolphus Busch and his partner in the Anheuser-Busch brewery.

Born in Germany in 1805, he emigrated to Cincinnati in 1843, then moved on to St. Louis in 1845. Originally the owner of a soap factory, his career took a different turn in 1860 when he financed a loan for the struggling Bavarian Brewery. Adolphus Busch married Anheuser’s daughter, Lilly, in 1861 and began working at his father-in-law’s brewery in 1864. They formed a partnership in 1879 , changing the name of the brewery to the Anheuser-Busch Brewing Association. Anheuser is buried at Bellefontaine Cemetery.
