Name:    Lindell, Peter

Died/Ended:     Oct. 26, 1861
Description:    Peter Lindell was born in Maryland and moved to St. Louis in 1811, already a successful merchant. With his three brothers, he opened a general store on Main Street. With the proceeds from their successful business, they became land owners. The brothers bought 40 blocks in addition to 1,200 acres outside the city limits. They also ran the Lindell Hotel on Washington Avenue.

Lindell Boulevard once was part of Peter LindellĀ“s property and was named after him. He was a bachelor who died with an estimated worth of $6 million. [Final Resting Place, p. 104]
