Description:    Born in Wurtemberg, Germany, Widmann was educated in the public schools of Germany and studied art at Washington University of St. Louis. He began his professional career when he came to St. Louis in 1874 with the firm of Walsh & Jungenfeld. He designed the large buildings for the Anheuser-Busch Brewing Assoc, and was the designer of Machinery Hall at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition.
