People Name: Brussel, Hugues Profession: Architect Detailed Description: The firm of Brussel & Viterbo Engineers was formed after the 1904 World´s Fair when the principals, former schoolmates, began a lucrative career specializing in reinforced concrete. In addition to early work at the New Cathedral, Hugues Brussel and Lionel R. Viterbo had a hand in the construction of the Arcade Building and Kiel Opera House and Auditorium where the cornerstone records their contributions. Brussel was also President of the Reinforced Concrete Company up until his death in 1960. |
