Description:    Dr. Mary McLean was the first female intern (and the last until about 1940) at the City┬┤s Female Hospital. In 1885, she was the first woman elected to the St. Louis Medical Society. Born in Washington, MO, she graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School and returned to St. Louis in 1884. In 1885, she was the first woman elected to the St. Louis Medical Society.
