Designation: City Landmark, National Register of Historic Places, Neighborhood: 66 History: History: Originally, this house was erected for Joseph and Maria Kulage in 1876. Mrs. Kulage, who was a devout Roman Catholic, apparently held religious services in her home, hence the installation of the pipe organ in 1917. This organ, which has 1700 pipes, is housed in a special tower, which is faced with rough cut stone on its exterior. Another unusual feature of the house is the 22 foot ceiling in the organ room. The house was recently purchased by St. Louis License Collector Benjamin Goins and his wife. |
