Name:  Washington Metropolitan African Methodist Zion
Address:  613 North Garrison
History:
Designated as a historic landmark by the City in 1974, this is the oldest African Methodist Episcopal Zion church in St. Louis. It was organized in the 1870s and occupies the site of the former Union Methodist Church. This church remained in its city location when much of the surrounding area was demolished for redevelopment. The church sponsored the construction of the nearby Lucas Heights and Metropolitan Village housing, built in the 1980s.
