Description:    Gabriel Paul was the first architect in St. Louis. He was born in San-Domigue (Haiti) in 1781 and was sent to France for his education. He came to St. Louis in 1817 and married Louise Chouteau, Auguste Chouteau´s daughter. He designed the first cathedral for St. Louis. He died in 1845 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery.
