Description: James E. Yeatman, along with William Greenleaf Eliot, founded the Western Sanitary Commission. He was also one of the founders of Merchant´s Bank and was the first president of the Mercantile Library. President Lincoln offered to name him the head of the Freedmen´s Bureau, but he declined.
