Description:    Ferdinand de Leyba was the third Spanish Lt. Governor of Upper Louisiana. He replaced the popular Cruzat in June 1778. De Leyba was not well-liked and was not well-suited to be an administrator. He was in command during the attack on the village by the British and Indians in May 1780, but died soon after, on June 27, 1780.
