People Name: Landberg, Kurt E. Born/Started: 1923 Died/Ended: 1996 Description: In 1978, Landberg founded Kurt Landberg Architects Inc., where he was president until his death. Before that, he was a partner with the Burks and Landberg architectural firm in St. Louis. Landberg was in charge of the Christ Church renovation for the firm of Burks and Landberg, completed in 1969. Landberg´s work was recognized as "one of the 12 most distinguished religious architectural projects completed in the United States in the last 40 years." He was awarded Interfaith Forum on Religion, Art and Architecture award, ranking him with Eero Saarinen, Saarinen´s father, Eliel, and Frank Lloyd Wright who had also received the award. . Landberg earned a bachelor´s degree in 1946 from the University of Minnesota and a master´s degree in architecture from Washington University at St. Louis. He taught at Washington University for 13 years. He was past chairman of the St. Louis Urban Development Committee and the Parks and Recreation Committee, and chairman of Christ Church Special Planning Committee |
