Name:    McPherson, William
Description:    William McPherson was a wealthy landowner in St. Louis who played a leading role in the construction of the Eads Bridge. As director of the Illinois and St. Louis Bridge Company, he oversaw the design and financing of the bridge, buying shares of stock in the bridge with his own funds.

McPherson had built his fortune as president of the Pacific Railroad. A major street in the City’s Central West End is named for him. (Primm, 285)
