Name:    Aloe, Edith P.
Description:    Widow of Aldermanic President Louis P. Aloe, Edith Aloe was instrumental in bringing Carl MillesĀ“ sculpture, the Meeting of the Waters, to St. Louis.

Mrs. Aloe first became acquainted with the work of the Swedish sculptor at an exhibition of art sponsored by the St. Louis League of Women Voters. She led efforts to commission a fountain in Aloe Plaza, and contributed $12,500 to the project. Her daughter, Isabel, and son-in-law, Howard F. Baer, donated $7,500.
