He came to St. Louis in 1822 when he was 30 years old. He and Joseph Laveille formed the first architecture firm west of the Mississippi. They designed the Old Cathedral and the first buildings at Jefferson Barracks. Morton is buried in Bellefontaine Cemetery. |
