Description:    Nathan Young was St. LouisĀ“ first African American municipal court judge. The co-founder of the St. Louis American newspaper, he was also an artist and author. Young painted more than 400 pictures and wrote fiction, poetry, and history. In 1937, he wrote a book titled, Your St. Louis and Mine, which details African AmericansĀ“ contributions to the city.
