Description:    Miles Davis was one of the most influential musicians of the twentieth century. Born in Alton, IL, he grew up in East St. Louis. After graduating from high school, he attended the Juliard School of Music. He became well-known when his album, "The Birth of Cool," was released. This album featured both black and white musicians and started a new genre of jazz music. His experiences were detailed in Miles: The Autobiography (with Quincy Trouupe, Jr.).
