|   | People Name: Cochems, Eddie Profession: Athlete Description: Eddie Cochems, coach of the St. Louis University Billikens football team, is credited with being the first coach to use the forward pass in a football game. According to records at the College Football Hall of Fame, the first legal pass was thrown by Cochems´ team in a game against Carroll College on Sept. 5, 1906. St. Louis went on to an undefeated season and outscored their opponents 402-11. The highlight of the season was when St. Louis shocked Iowa, 39-0. During his playing days, Mr. Cochems had been a star halfback and end at Wisconsin, lettering five times from 1897 to 1901. |
