Description:    Howard Woods was a graduate of Sumner High School who developed his journalistic craft at the St. Louis Argus newspaper, where he rose to the position of executive editor. Because of the viewpoints expressed in his editorials, President Lyndon Johnson appointed Woods to the position of associate director of the United States Information Agency. Detailed Description:
Howard Woods was a graduate of Sumner High School, was a journalist and a diplomat. His journalism career at the St. Louis Argus newspaper included serving as Executive Editor. Because of the viewpoints expressed in his editorials, President Lyndon Johnson appointed Woods to the position of Associate Director of the United States Information Agency.
