Description:    Martin Mathews is the founder and president of the Mathews-Dickey Boys Club. He grew up in Poplar Bluff, MO but came to St. Louis to work for Burkart Manufacturing Company. He got involved with a group of young men who wanted to do something with their lives. Mathews started a baseball team with the young men around 1959. Eventually he formed the Mathews-Dickey Boys Club with Dickey Ballentine. [171].
