Description:    Ann Russell was the daughter of William Russell, who had been sent to St. Louis by Tomas Jefferson as deputy surveyor for the new territorial government. She then married Thomas Allen, a successful lawyer and future U.S. Congressman. She and her husband owned quite a bit of land and buildings in the south side of St. Louis. When she died in 1897, her children sold off all of the family properties.
