  Busch Memorial Stadium dedicated

Brief Description:  Six years after the LCRA redevelopment plan was approved, this 53,000-seat stadium was dedicated in May 1966. The stadium was completed at an approximate cost of $27.8 million. Two-thirds of the total cost was privately financed, including $5 million from the Cardinals┬┤ owners, Anheuser-Busch. Busch Stadium was designed by Edward Durell Stone. The stadium features 96 miniature versions of the Gateway Arch in its design. It has been home to three World Championship teams and six National League Champions.
