  First Airplane Flight in St. Louis
Brief Description:  In October 1909, famous aviator Glen Curtiss piloted the first airplane to take off and land in St. Louis. The flight lasted only a few seconds, but the next day he flew 3/4 of a mile in 90 seconds. The flights were part of a week-long series of festivities celebrating St. LouisĀ“ incorporation as a city.
