  Annie Malone Childrens Home founded
Brief Description:  The Annie Malone ChildrenĀ“s Home was founded in 1888 by Sarah Newton and was originally called the St. Louis Colored Orphans Home. Sarah Newton aroused the interest of other black women in the community to create a home to care for orphans and neglected children. The home was renamed after Annie Turnbo Pope Malone provided a financial gift for the construction of a new building at its present site.
