Event: Exposition and Music Hall Constructed Category: Architecture, Planning and Development Brief Description: Construction of the Exposition and Music Hall between 1883 and 1884 exposed the eastern side of exclusive Lucas Place residences to the rest of downtown, formerly buffered by Missouri Park. The construction of the Exposition Hall at Olive and 14th Streets was the final blow to Lucas place as a wealthy enclave in the City, as prestigious residents moved farther west to avoid the urban ills of downtown. The Hall was designed by J.B. Legg using Renaissance and Classical Forms. Year: 1884 Decade: 1880 - 1889 Beginning Date: Aug. 23, 1883 Ending Date: 1884 |
