On March 30th 2011, Google announced that it will be building their ultra high-speed network in Kansas City, Kansas.

In February 2010 Google announced a project to build an ultra high-speed network in an American city. The plan was to deploy 1 Gbps, fiber optic connections directly to people's homes. This connection would be over 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today.
