Description:    Homer G. Phillips first came to St. Louis in 1915 after graduating from Howard University Law School. He was instrumental in gaining passage of the bond issue which provided seed money for the proposed northside hospital. Phillips did not live to see the completion of the new facility; he was shot to death in a never-solved murder that occurred on June 18, 1931.
