Event: St. Louis Cardinals Win 1967 World Series Brief Description: The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Boston Red Sox in seven games to win the 1967 World Series. "El Birdos" enjoyed the dominating play by Latin stars Julian Javier and Orlando Cepeda. Bob Gibson pitched three complete-game victories and Lou Brock put on one of the finest offensive displays in World Series history. Gibson limited the Red Sox to only 14 hits in three games, and Brock topped all Series hitters with a .414 batting average. Brock also set a Series record by stealing seven bases. Roger Maris hit .385 and drove in seven runs. The Cardinals´ home paid attendance also topped 2 million for the first time in 1967. Year: 1967 Decade: 1960 - 1969 |
