  St. Louis CORE Established
Brief Description:  The St. Louis Chapter of the Congress for Racial Equality (CORE) was established in 1949. In the 1960s, CORE sent "Freedom Riders" to the South to break down segregation laws in interstate travel and also demonstrated against Jefferson Bank because of job discrimination.
