  East-West Gateway Coordinating Council Established
Brief Description:  The East-West Gateway Coordinating Council was established in 1966. The Council was established when the governors of Missouri and Illinois empowered it to serve as the regional review agency and clearinghouse for 19 different federal funding programs. By mid-1971, it was mandated to review 90 different program areas. The Council is supported with a combination of local taxes and state and federal grants.
