  Bond Issue of 1923
Brief Description:  In 1923, a bond issue was passed by voters that provided revenue for widening city streets, replacing gas street lights with electric ones, and for the building of municipal buildings, such as hospitals. In 1926, it also provided funding to channel the polluted River De Peres into a impounded sewer, and, therefore, bypass Forest Park.
