  Immigration in the 1830s

Brief Description:  Immigrants from Germany and Ireland fled their native countries and settled in St. Louis in droves in the 1830s. By 1837, more than 6,000 German immigrants lived in St. Louis, accounting for nearly half of the City´s population.
