Brief Description:  In the 1930 Census, St. LouisĀ“ population was 821,960, a decline of 6.3% from the previous census. The City dropped from the sixth largest in the nation to the seventh. Los Angeles surpassed St. Louis in population, meaning St. Louis was no longer number one in population west of the Mississippi. (Primm 432)
