Event:  First Steamboat Arrives in St. Louis
Brief Description:  The steamboat "Zebulon M. Pike" was the first steamboat to arrive in St. Louis, on August 2, 1817. Within two years, steamboats and barges were common sites along the St. Louis riverfront.
