  Overseer of Roads Position Established

Brief Description:  An ordinance was passed in 1811 establishing an Overseer of Roads, along with two property assessors. Every man over age 21 was required to work from 2 to 30 days on roads, with substitutes being allowed. The amount of days required to work was determined by the value of the personĀ“s property.
