Event:  World War II Affects Local Manufacturing

Brief Description:  World War II began in December 1941 after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Hundreds of St. Louis firms rapidly converted to wartime production. Approximately 75% of the City’s manufacturing concerns eventually converted to defense production for the duration of the war.
